Ex- quarterback will oversee pro scouting as Bucs shore up staff.

TAMPA - Former Bucs quarterback Doug Williams took another step up the team's executive ladder Tuesday when he was named the Bucs' coordinator of pro scouting.

Responsible now for coordinating the scouting and recruiting of all NFL players, Williams in essence replaces Mark Dominik, who left his job as director of pro personnel to become general manager.

The promotion came as the Bucs made some key additions to their coaching staff, naming former Saints and Packers assistant Joe Baker the secondary coach and 21-year coaching veteran Robert Nunn a defensive line coach.

Nunn will work with Todd Wash, who was retained as a defensive line coach. Baker will work with Dwayne Stukes, who was promoted from special teams quality control coach to assistant secondary coach.

Baker and Nunn have both worked previously with Bucs defensive coordinator Jim Bates, with Baker serving as secondary/safeties coach for the Packers in 2005 and Nunn serving as a Bates assistant for four years in Miami and one in Green Bay.

In another promotion, the Bucs named Kurtis Schultz head strength and conditioning coach. Now in his fourth year with the Bucs, Schultz will be replaced as an assistant strength coach by Chris Keenan.

The Bucs remain on the lookout for a tight ends coach and a running backs coach to replace Richard Bisaccia, who will drop that role from his workload and return in 2009 as special teams coordinator and associate head coach.

Williams, meanwhile, will see his responsibilities increase dramatically. He will be in charge of evaluating talent from all other professional Football leagues, including the Canadian Football League.

Williams has been a member of the Bucs' personnel department since 2004, when he returned to Tampa Bay following a stint as head coach at his alma mater, Grambling State University.

A former first-round draft pick of the Bucs, Williams played for the team from 1978-82, leading it to the playoffs in 1979, 1981 and 1982. His greatest achievement as a player came in 1987, when he earned Super Bowl MVP honors by leading the Washington Redskins to a 42-10 victory over Denver in Super Bowl XXII.
