The Green Bay Packers did everything in their power last year to make sure that Brett Favre did not end up playing for the Vikings. This included filing tampering charges against the Vikings and refusing to give Favre his release. Eventually, Favre was traded not only out of the NFC North but out of the conference, landing with the New York Jets .
But now with Favre free to join any team he wants ? if he decides to end his retirement ? there appears a possibility he will be playing quarterback for the Vikings this season. Vikings coach Brad Childress did not close the door on discussing Favres situation when asked about the subject today. So what does Packers coach Mike McCarthy think of this? The Vikings and Packers are both conducting rookie minicamps this weekend and Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal asked McCarthy about the subject.
?If Brett wants to play Football, he should play Football, McCarthy said. ?Thats really my stance on it. If he still wants to play, he should take advantage of his opportunities.
By the way, the Vikings are scheduled to play host to the Packers on Oct. 5 in a Monday night game and then travel to Green Bay on Nov. 1.
