The first-round draft selection of Boston College defensive tackle B.J. Raji signals an expanded role for incumbent starting nose tackle Ryan Pickett.
Defensive coordinator Dom Capers indicated that Pickett, who has played exclusively inside since the Packers signed the former first-round draft pick as a free agent in 2006, would be used as a situational end in the team's new 3-4 scheme.
Green Bay also is expected to sprinkle in some of its old 4-3 look and could feature a hefty pairing in the interior with the 330-pound Pickett and the 337-pound Raji on the field at the same time.

Tauscher will need the entire offseason and perhaps training camp to recover from a late-season torn ACL and subsequent surgery, leaving him to possibly accept a one-year deal to return as a backup.
