Defensive tackle Johnny Jolly reported for the start of training camp July 27, despite being mired in legal trouble.
Jolly faces felony drug possession charges after he was arrested July 8 in Houston. Jolly allegedly was found with at least 200 grams of codeine in his vehicle outside a nightclub.
Jolly made his first court appearance July 22 in Houston and was granted a new hearing there Aug. 27, a day before the Packers' final preseason game against Tennessee.
In the meantime, the court stipulated that Jolly submit to random urinalyses every week for drug monitoring and abide by a daily curfew of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Jolly could be subjected to discipline by the NFL, pending the outcome of the charges brought against him.
Jolly is a projected starter after the trade of Corey Williams to Cleveland early in the offseason. However, Jolly didn't practice with the team in offseason workouts as he continued to recover from shoulder surgery done late last season.
He's not expected to do much, if anything, at the outset of training camp.
"Physically, we'll probably be smart with him because of his shoulder," head coach Mike McCarthy said on the eve of camp.
Fellow tackle Justin Harrell also was a candidate to be placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list for the start of camp.
Harrell, the team's first-round draft pick last year, required surgery in the spring after suffering a back injury while lifting weights.
McCarthy said Harrell wasn't ready to begin practicing in training camp. His status is considered "week to week" by the medical staff.
The unavailability of Jolly and Harrell leaves the Packers noticeably thin in the interior of the line, but they were expected to have Colin Cole back on the field after he was sidelined in the offseason because of a forearm injury sustained last season.
CAMP CALENDAR: Players reported July 27. Camp opens July 28 with the first of five scheduled two-a-days -- all in the first 12 days. An intrasquad scrimmage will be held at sold-out Lambeau Field on Sunday night, Aug. 3.
