Playoffs still in play

The team that won't be beat can't be beat. The Bears simply refused to lose against a Packers team that outplayed them most of the night. The Bears recovered a muffed punt and blocked a 38-yard field goal to keep their playoff dreams alive. The sense of urgency that was missing most of the game returned when it mattered most. The win puts all the pressure on the Vikings to beat the Giants at home, pressure Minnesota doesn't typically handle well. Improbably, all the playoff scenarios still matter, and it will come down to Week 17.

\ Gould-en again

It was deja vu all over again with Robbie Gould winning a second straight game in overtime with a field goal through the uprights in the south end zone. The Packers tried to call timeouts to ice Gould, but how do you ice a kicker on the coldest night in team history? Gould nailed the 38-yarder to give the Bears a victory nobody really saw coming for the first 55 minutes. Give Lovie Smith credit for lighting into his players at halftime and making them realize all that was at stake, and the Bears credit for coming out of their doldrums.

Pick Pack poison

As the Bears committed themselves to stopping a Green Bay running game that gouged them for 200 yards in November, Aaron Rodgers took what the defense gave him. And let's just say the Bears were in a giving mood. The front four failed to create pressure on Rodgers. The Bears had success blitzing with Danieal Manning, who forced an interception in the first quarter. But they didn't come after Rodgers nearly enough to rattle a quarterback who kept plays alive with his feet, finished them with his arm and nearly beat them.

\ Overcoming the 'O'

In the best of conditions, the Bears' offense wasn't built to be a good come-from-behind unit. It was put together to run the ball effectively enough to set up efficient play-action passes and the occasional long ball. But whether it was due to Matt Forte's injured toe or bad blocking, the running game never got going until the final seven minutes. If Forte was at full strength, he didn't run with the authority he had in assembling a historic rookie season. Kyle Orton wasn't good enough to overcome it. Yet somehow, the Bears prevailed.
