Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy is in Mississippi this morning in a last-ditch effort to convince Brett Favre not to report to training camp.
“They’re asking him not to come up there,” a source told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “They don’t want him up there.”
FlightAware.com lists a private jet as having left the Green Bay airport at 9:33 last night and arrived at the Hattiesburg, Mississippi airport at 11:34.
Favre faxed a letter to the league office yesterday, seeking reinstatement. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will grant his reinstatement today or tomorrow, and then the Packers have to either cut Favre, trade Favre or allow Favre on their active roster — unless they can convince him to say home, which they’re desperately trying to do.
