He may be in the final year (or years?) of an amazing career, but it’s clear that the Jets didn’t have to pay a huge price to pick up Brett Favre.
The NFL Network is reporting that the Jets will send a conditional fourth-round pick to the Packers for Favre, although if Favre stays healthy and the Jets are good, the pick will escalate.
the pick becomes a third-round pick.
the pick becomes a second-round pick.
the pick becomes a first-round pick.
Now, remember that the Chiefs sent a first-round pick to the 49ers for an aging Joe Montana with no conditions (although they did get a third-round pick back). Considering Favre’s legendary toughness, it will be shocking to see the pick not bumped up to a third-rounder. But even with the addition of Alan Faneca, Calvin Pace and others, we have to remember that the Jets did go 4-12 last year, so it’s not like they were knocking on the door of the playoffs. Maybe Favre can get them over that hurdle, but if he does, the Jets will be thrilled to send a first or second-rounder to Green Bay.Continue Reading
