Trust me. As a Packer fan, it pains me greatly to type those words.
But it’s now time.
Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers have done irreparable damage to their relationship. It’s only fair to blame both sides, because both sides have done wrong.
In the end, however, it’s Favre that must leave the Packers’ organization. And soon.
The first (next?) step towards that result came Tuesday. Of course, Favre was reinstated Monday. He had flown into Green Bay Sunday evening.
Meetings with Favre and head coach Mike McCarthy through the night Monday and again Tuesday morning were apparently unproductive, as the Packers have made it clear to Favre that he’s not the starter.
Favre’s next move was to declare an impasse to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, and then he left Lambeau Field.
